What the City's records show

Building permits

The City issued 532 building permits with a combined declared value of $252.9M, covering 267 housing units. One permit makes up $161.7M of that: a Commercial / Multi Family Project in Alyth/Bonnybrook, filed as “Bonnybrook Centre WWTP WP4” (permit record). The other 531 add up to $91.1M.

The most permits went to Hotchkiss (23), Rangeview (23) and Cornerstone (16). See them on the permits map.

Development permits

142 development permit applications came in.

Rezoning

5 new land-use redesignation applications were filed. 11 files were closed as approved and none as refused. The City's records give the date a file was closed, which can come after the Council decision. Rezoning Watch has the latest applications.

Roads and transit

136 road closures and lane restrictions started during the week, and Calgary Transit posted 53 service alerts that took effect. What's active right now is on the traffic dashboard and the transit alerts list.

What are the CTrain lines in Calgary?

There are two. The Red Line (Route 201) runs between Somerset-Bridlewood in the south and Tuscany in the northwest. The Blue Line (Route 202) runs between Saddletowne in the northeast and 69 Street in the west. Both cross downtown along 7 Avenue, where rides are free.

How is property tax calculated in Calgary?

Your property's assessed value is multiplied by the tax rate City Council sets each year. The bill has two parts: a municipal portion and a provincial education portion. The City mails bills in late May and payment is due at the end of June. Each address profile on this site shows the assessed value the bill is based on.
